Do you have to learn html first to learn programming. How many different tags and all the stuff is there to learn I want to learn all of it, I want a website that has all of the rules and things.
No – you do not have to learn html first to learn programming like c# , java, visual basic.
BUT html ( web design) would certainly help you learn to watch for details – like not useing lowercase and capital letters for the same thing example is not the same as ., remembering rules like using requires but you can use by itself. Don’t worry about how many tags there are. There are books/websites out there that list tags and how to use them. By the way – XHTML is preferred to HTML

You can design a pretty nice website without any knowledge of programming other than HTML. HTML is nothing like other programming languages. True programming is Java, C#, C++, AJAX, Perl, etc.. These languages are much more difficult to understand, but once you learn one of these, the rest will come much easier. HTML is the easiest language to learn. Once you learn table structures and div tags, you can desgin almost anything. I would recommend buying this book. I own the book myself, it is great for beginners, but also has everything you need to know for advanced HTML coding.

Haha, cute. Pick up an O’Reilly book or one of those ‘For Dummies’ books. It’s pretty easy to get started.
