Billiards Pool U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship – Archer-Parica
They call him “The Scorpion.” Why? We’re not sure, maybe because of his November birth date. But one thing’s for sure, he’s one of the top 5 pool players in the world. He’s playing Jose Parica, who is world-class in his own right. Jose was the first in a long line of great Filipino players to invade American 9-Ball.
This is the fourth of 13 feature matches from the 29th Annual U S Open 9-Ball Championship, the pool and billiard world’s most prestigious title. Every September pool payers from around the world converge on Chesapeake, Virginia to compete for their share of the $200,000 prize fund.
This is a production of Billiard Club Network, in association with Accu-Stats Video Productions.

i have to disagree with archer being in the top 5…just throwing some names out but i find Reyes, Alcano, Strickland, Souqet, Pagulayan happen to be more solid than Archer….i’ve seen him miss easy shots more than once

Wow–poor Johnny A (must’ve been jet lag or something). At least Parica dispatches him capably, without losing his concentration and letting things get to him. But definitely one of the more lackluster matches I’ve seen (at least at this level).

I played with parica one time in Hard Times Billiards/ Bellflower, CA. We played 2 matches RACE TO 9 200 hundred each, he gave me the 7 out and the breaks, was very tought but i won it

Parica achieved one of the most revered records in pool, and was the only player to win a perfect run out match of nine-ball under race-to-11 format without misses or fouls. Quoted from Wikipedia.

Good question. The Pro Rating is a statistical average based upon shots made versus errors, etc. Very similar to a batting average in baseball.
Pro effort is typically above .800 for a match. Archer’s .695 is indicative of his performance in this match and the ultimate result.
Thanks for watching.

Jose “Amang” Parica used to be one of the top 2 filipino players along with Efren Reyes. Back then, Amang was the guy to beat.

this is’nt vintage Archer, but Parica always plays well even at his age. all pros go up and down but it seems Parica is always at least very good. even Reyes went down for a while.

Has anyone else realized the irony of Jeanette Lee, “The Black Widow,” advertising a product called the spider?

Jose Parica is always in hardtimes billards
bellflower practicing most of the time playing for money.

Archer is a former US Open winner and a two-time WPA nine-ball champion.
There are few people who can even imagine being as good as he is.
