I’d go with Anydvd in conjunction with CloneDVD. Anydvd disables the CSS code, and CloneDVD allows you to rip the entire DVD with or without menus, and you may also select the quality level; both software are from the company SlySoft. You can get demos or do a search on Bearshare to get the software. I’ve been using it for years. Works like a charm.

Dvd43 is free and gets you past the copyright.. (not sure if its compatible with vista though)

Wondershare dvd ripper platinum, worked well on my vista, it can get rid of the css protection.
