How does Adsense know that you have ads on multiple sites/blogs?

MrKristenBell asked:
Is there a certain number in the code you create when setting up a new unit that connects to your account?
I’ve always wanted to know this as I am about to place ads on another blog of mine.
I’m not talking about hits or clicks.
I just wanted to know how Google knows if you have placed the code on more than one website/blog?

you don’t need to change anything
just copy the code onto your other site
you don’t get money from hits on your site you get hits for the number of clicks to the links(which is personalized for your account).

You can create as many html ad codes as you like and place them on as many blogs as you like..Your personal number-code is in each of the html code..

Actually Google doesn’t know it until someone has visited the site. The Adsense code works off a similar principle as the Google Analytics code. Once someone views the page, the Adsense code sends a response to Google’s systems and tells it the tracking information, time, etc.
When you’re in Adsense creating a new unit, Adsense will plant the tracking code necessary to link it to your account. Everything is taken care of for you.

they know by your publisher i.d. number. if you look in the coding….example here
ok in the script at the top u see this pub-813115269305482…this is your publisher i.d number and is unique to just your account. plus the java coding tells google the referring url……which is the website they came from so from that info they know what website they came from when they click the ad it then tells google what publisher i.d. is used in the ad code so it knows than what site the ads on and who’s google adsense account to credit for the click
last year i had over 52,000 visitors and a little over 10,000 clicked ads and i made
almost 4000.00 bucks….love adsense
