you have just provd my point.back then it was trash thats y it took long for the song to be good.beside majority of ppl that liked it was black it was overrated.todays musics is eaiser cuz its better

all you have to do today to make a big hit is make a 3 second drum loop, find a fitting sample or cool sounding noise and loop that too, freestyle some stupid ass rhymes, and you have the next million dollar hit; another dance anthem that sticks to the same format. the formula is PLAYED already! i could do it mys in 2 seconds, but i have more integrity. believe me, i know. i share a studio with cats that do this. it’s sad.

WTF? are you smoking? what does the environment have to do with this convo? the music today is absolute shit! it has John Coltrane and Miles Davis rolling in their graves along with Pac and Big!
August 19th, 2007 at 6:04 am
actually i really dont care whether they care about the environment or not.who give a fuck.the music still is better

maybe on the underground. minus Common, Lupe, and Talib, plus a few other smaller name guys theres no heart left in rap today. any number of old school/underground cats would lyrically murk a dude like Lil Gayne or 10 Cent any day because those dudes dont give a fuck about music. Lil Wayne only cares to get money so he can get coked out of his mind and make more music for people in mental institutions and 50 Cent is just addicted to currency and would suck another man’s dick for the right price.

beatwise, he’s absolutely hip hop. lyrics wise, not so much.

that’s not it at all. 808’s have been a part of hip hop for a minute anyways. what is the point of having two terms though, seriously? why have emcees and rappers be synonymous? i think it was set up for there to be a divide and i personally feel it should be kept that way. anyone can be a rapper, but only an elite group can be dealt the honor of being considered an emcee. and this isn’t something that is new, it’s been a subject of debate since the nineties at least.
August 27th, 2007 at 8:45 pm
i respect that.

kanye west is hip hop? haha he mad cocky and mad commercial
August 30th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
Your making it sound like a song with synths and 808 drums = rap
Grimy boom bap shit = hip hop
Maybe the “rap” is more materialistic but hip-hop started with rapping about STUFF.

This hip hop vs. rap thing is something that started just recently by some backpackers
Hip Hop=The culture and genre of music.
Rap=The vocal delivery style used in hip hop music.
Theres no divide needed. Even Rakim said don’t try to divide hip-hop its a whole.
It’s not like Jay-Z = hip hop and Jeezy = rap
