In this video tutorial we will learn about advanced-looking but not-so-hard-to-create buttons. These kind of buttons are all over the web in just about ever kind of flash site out there! Follow along with this video even if you do not have CS3 and you should have no problems! There is virtually no scripting which also makes this one much easier. Have fun and please check out http://www.tutvid.com for more free training material!

flash cs3 has action script 2. when you create a new document it prompts you what you want including when you first open the program.

I just wanted to comment about you not being able to add a gradient. You can actually add one with out breaking the text to shapes. Just use a gradient mask over the text.

flash cs3 has more features and can help create nicer products, but it is much harder to use as it uses action script 3.0.

Another bug – when you place your mouse over the button for the “over” movie, if the right or left blur objects (which are tweening) hit the mouse, the movie starts over. It seems that if the tweening objects hit the mouse a NEW “over button” command is detected and the movie restarts! How to disable this?

Great tutorial! But, when I select the button and release, the “down” movie clip doesn’t play through. And since users rarely hold down a button (they just click it), the down movie is really never played. Did I miss something? Is there a way to force the down movie clip to run through its entirety?
thanks!
