I keep thinking of that Daffy Duck cartoon where he blows himself up to get the love and admiration of the audience. As he rises to heaven, Buggs Bunny says “that was great”! Daffy replies “Yes, but unfortunately, I can only do it once”! Randy Pausch might be a nice guy, but he is hardly a great man. His only trick was that in the end, he met death with some courage and dignity. His advice on “happiness” he can stick up his ass.

if it is indeed only him you hate then leave his wife and kids out of this, they have done absolutely nothing. you have insulted both the wife and the kids, which is wrong as you have no reason to do so.

glocker9999- yes maybe you hate Pausch for your own little reason, but what he has done in life and what he gave to others before he died was much greater than whatever it is you hated. no i do not worship this guy, but i have much respect for him for what he did before he died, and that’s all. his speech gives comfort and confidence to others, and no matter what he did/is that caused you to say he goes to hell and his wife and kids go to hell, he was a good person. and leave his family out.

wrfranciz: my hatred for this dickwad has nothing whatsoever to do with the money he had, the childhood, the wife & kids, the job or any of that. My hatred for him stems from one simple central thing: he was an SJ.
That’s it. That’s the reason I detested him. No other reason. There are plenty of wonderful NPs who have $, family, happiness etc – and I find them quite delightful.

redskins2k: I am American. I am Agnostic. I don’t worship celebreties, or idols, or athletes, but I do admire some of each, for different reasons. Don’t confuse admiration with worship, you’re making a very poor generalization about 300 million people that you seem to know horribly little about. There is no one way to live life, no best way; just choices to be made, paths to be followed. Ultimately we follow our own instincts for what’s best for us as individuals.

If the purpose in life for all people is to procreate, I suppose you think that basic resources are inexhaustible, too? If everyone procreates, eventually, our world population will become unmanageable to the degree’s that China’s already is (lack of clean drinking water or food, housing, disease vectors…all the stuff of misery). Not everyone should procreate…and you can take that as a suggestion, glocker9999, if I’m not already too late.

and you call him an a-hole for what? because of all the things he has done? all that he has accomplished? he didn’t make those speeches for publicity, he made them for the people who he cared for, who he loved, and anyone else who would benefit from them. you were obviously not one of the people the speeches were meant for. he is not in hell, never will be, and neither will his wife and kids. by no means is he an a-hole, only those who are extremely hateful and stupid will say such things.

yes people like you, but not meaning that ‘you’ have any power at all. people who hate others for absolutely no logical reason whatsoever are those who have no common sense when judging others. all you know of Pausch is from what he has said in his speeches, and you merely hate him based on the fact that he had money, friends, family, a great childhood to go out with. if that is not your case, which might be the problem, it is no reason to hate this man. he lived a great life, but shortly.

people like glocker9999 are the reason so many bad things happen in the world. why can’t people look at a great man like Pausch for who he is, and for what his legacy to many people is? it takes a brave man, a determined man, and a true man to stand up and talk about life during the face of his own death. people who listen to what Pausch says are people who can look up at the sky and believe that they can do anything. for some people, this may not be true, but for others, Pausch is an idol.

why are you all ranting on about whether he was an atheist or not? it doesnt matter, and really has nothing to do with this. he had an illness that his body wasnt able to get rid of. he was trying to make the most of what he had left by doing something he wanted to. stop being such ignorant fools and let everyone live their life the way they want. you have a right to your opinions and so does he.

He’s condemned his children never to see him again because he chose atheism, which mean he’s in HELL right now.
