There are many books and packages on this topic in market or on the net. Please suggest a good or best one also keeping in mind that i am new to both blogging and adsense.
If you are an absolute beginner, you might try Google Adsense for Dummies by Jerri L. Ledford. And Blogging For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) by Susannah Gardner and Shane Birley both are new for 2008.
The Adsense Code by Joel Comm is a bit old (2006) but it was a bestseller in its time.
I believe this book is affiliated with the problogger web site, an absolutely fantastic resource in itself, ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett (Paperback – May 5, 2008)
You might also try these two, which I am less familiar with:
The Complete Guide to Google Advertising: Including Tips, Tricks, & Strategies to Create a Winning Advertising Plan by Bruce C. Brown
Start Your Own Blogging Business (Startup) by Entrepreneur Press and J.S. McDougall
I agree with “private_ice_publications” that the ProBlogger book by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett is an excellent resource, although it’s not specifically about using AdSense on your blog.
Joel’s Adsense has just been updated and is an excellent read – AdSense-Secrets.com
You can also find some free video tutorials showing how to add AdSense to a blog here:

Hey this really helped me because it enabled me to look over this guys shoulder and see how he made money with AdSense and my earnings increased over night! I didn’t get rich yet but going from 2 bucks a week to 15 is a big deal…for me.$2 a day wasn’t cutting it…only a cup of coffee at peets. You can make more and get more impressions but you need a great plan to do this I really got allot from this book just check the link below and let me know how much it helps.
