BoxeR interview translated by infinity21, thanks! 🙂
Q: You won 2 games in one day. How long has it been.
A: Winning two games is a story of a distant past that I can barely remember it. I did win two games today but for the team, it is not desirable. Dividing up the task and winning 1 game each for the victory produces more synergy effect. In the game against Lee Young-Ho (By.Flash), I played because my teammates pushed me forward but I would like to spread out the wins.
Q: In the game against Kang Min (Nal_rA), you tried a risky cheese rush.
A: I had prepared a lot. It is a strategy that went through many trials and verifications. Even if my opponent didn’t double Nexus, I was going to pump bionic units from 2 barracks and then perform a cheese rush. In the case of double Nexus, my win percentage was 6~70%. Since it was Kang Min, I had predicted a 50% chance of winning but since he did a double Nexus, I think I won more easily.
Q: You and Lee Young-Ho have the same zodiac sign — monkey (Boxer and Flash are both born in the year of the monkey, then it means Boxer is 12 years older than Flash)
A: It seems like time passes by fast. When older players lose to young players, the shock is greater than losing to other people. I cannot erase the feeling that I am being forgotten faster. So I clenched my teeth during the game today. I don’t want to be forgotten.
Q: Lee Young-Ho’s recent force is very good.
A: I heard that he is good but since I’ve never faced him, I played the game confidently. Players like Lee Young-Ho who have not played many official games are a burden to play because you don’t know what their pattern is. So I do not want to lose to young players or players who have just had their debut. Once you get behind in relative records, it has a negative effect on the life of the player in the future. It gives off a feeling like you are being robbed more so than losing to other players. Losing to Kang Min is better than losing to Lee Young-Ho (laughs).
Q: There was a time of danger (during the game).
A: Not long after taking the expansion at 11, it was destroyed so if things kept going this way I thought I will lose. I don’t know how I won. Before I know it, I thought “am I ahead?”. I focused on not losing the initiative. Once Dropships accumulate, it is important to not lose in the battle over the initiative. That is why I found the 9 o’clock expansions late. I had focused on the enemy movement paths and openings. Actually, I could not remember where my Engineering Bay was (laughs).
Q: When did you think that you won.
A: I thought I was ahead at the end when I took over the factories. But unexpectedly, a lot of units came out, and 11 and 1 o’clock were damaged. As I blocked the mass Tanks at 11 o’clock, I thought I won.
Q: You stopped your 8 game losing streak in TvT.
A: Airforce ACE players go through training for 2~3 months. During those times, it is difficult to stay up-to-date with popular strategies and game management styles. It’s not just TvT — the trends for TvZ and TvP have changed a lot. Even I feel it, so how can other players not feel it. We need time to close this gap.
Q: Jeong Chul-Ha coach will step down with the end of today’s game.
A: As the first coach, he led us well, and with this as the stepping stone, we will show the ACE team win game after game. For the younger players that will be joining the army, I will prepare a better environment and abilities in order to be a good senior.
Q: If you have anything to say to Lee Young-Ho
A: His early game management was so good that I was very shaken. If Lee Young-Ho gains more experience by playing important games, he will grow to be an excellent player.
Q: A word to your fans.
A: I was also thirsty for victory. You (the fans) probably wanted to see me win more than I did myself. Rather than being up and down, I want to show more consistency. The initial league is a league to solidify the foundation for Airforce ACE, and starting with the latter league, I want to show a completely different team.
